It's that time of year again. Christmas cards on the mantel, taped around doorways, piled up in baskets.
People display Christmas cards in many different ways. I recently read in a magazine (don't remember which one) an idea to tape the cards to a ribbon and hang the ribbon on the wall.
I decided to hang my cards on the window and I was surprised at how much I like it.
It was really easy and fast, and more importantly, the cards are being seen and appreciated, instead of sitting in a basket like I've done the last few years.
Instead of using tape to attach the card to the ribbon, I cut a slit at the top and bottom of the inside of the card and pulled the ribbon through.
The ribbon is attached to the window using a tack.
It's really easy to add new cards to the ribbon as you receive them.
How do you traditionally display your cards?

I love this idea. Mine are simply hanging around the archway in my living room which I enjoy. You have the best creative touch. I wish I had just an ounce of that talent. Unfortunately, I still can't even draw stick figures correctly. I was never blessed with art!
Sharon, you are so smart. I have used the ribbon before and loved it until the cards dropped off as the tape dried up. We hung them on the side of the stairs - looked great for a day or two, next year I will try it your way. Thanks!
Sharon ~ This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing it. I have my cards on the piece of cabinetry that encloses the one side of my refrigerator. It fills this normally empty spot with some decoration for Christmas.
Rebecca: Thanks! I've had cards around the doorway, on the mantel, in a basket, on a wreath...I really like this the best. I'm sorry to hear that you are stick people challenged, how sad!
Virginia: If you really want to try this idea next year, you better write yourself a note and tuck it in with the Christmas stuff. At least, I would have to or I wouldn't remember. I'ld be lucky to remember next month. And here you were thinking I was so smart! I write "future me" notes all the time. Is that weird?
Kathy: Thanks for the feature, I appreciate it! Using the side of the refrigerator is a great idea to bring some Christmas into the kitchen
What a clever idea, I like it! I usually tape my cards to the cabinets over my kitchen planning desk. Thanks for your comment on my blog!
Sharon,
I would have never thought of displaying Christmas cards in this unique way. Thanks for sharing.
Janna: I'm glad you like the idea. It is really easy and looks pretty too.
Brenda: You are welcome. Thanks for the comment.
Pretty funny because I just had my daughter tape ours up to the door frame last night . . but this is a really good idea . .wonder if I will remember for next year?
Tami: The only way I would remember it a year from now, would be to write myself a note, either on my calendar or tucked in with the Christmas decorations. Good luck!
Sharon, what a great way to display the cards. Like you, I tired of putting them in a basket because I ended up never looking at them again ...
here's a photo of how I'm displaying mine this year. I noticed the metal wall decor I have looked like a great place to "tuck in" the cards, and no tape is necessary ...
Maureen: I love it! This is even easier than my idea! These metal wall art pieces are so popular today and now they can actually serve a purpose other than decorative. How clever of you! Thanks for sharing.
This is great, I am the WORST at displaying Christmas cards, Honestly I HATE the clutter. See Home Stager on and OFF the job. These ideas are great!

Phyllis: That is too funny! Hopefully next Christmas you will get a handle on your Christmas card clutter.
Hi there Sharon, I love this idea, not only do I get to use my huge suppy of ribbon but I can also peek inside the card and read the mini letters whenever I want! Thanks for sharing.
Cynthia: Great! You can keep this in mind for next year! I enjoyed seeing my cards displayed this way.
I guess it's not too early to start thinking about the holidays. This is such a lovely way to disply holiday cards. I usually put them in a nice basket, but they nevery really get looked at once their in their. This would work nicely for birthday cards also.
Marie: I used to use a basket too, and you are right...I never looked at them. This way they can be appreciated through the season. Birthday cards is a great idea, especially for a child... you could hang their cards in their room.
