Inexpensive Wall Art - Adding a Creative Twist

In a recent post on inexpensive wall art by Monica Murphy, Monica showed us how to create wall art using scrapbook paper.  What I love about this idea is how easy it is to change out the art as needed.  Off to the store I went to pick up my frames and various papers.

I was telling my daughter about this wonderful idea and she informed me that she had made a picture for a friend as a baby shower gift using this technique.  In addition to using a sheet of paper in the frame, she cut up shapes from different sheets of paper and created a scene.

Jaime's scrapbook wall art

She used cookie cutters to trace the shapes.

She used a glue pen sold with the scrapping tools to glue it all in place.

This 12 x 12 picture cost a total of $13 including the frame and she has plenty of paper left over.

This was done for a baby, but this idea could easily be used for any room.

Sharon ~ I see she gets her creativity from you!  Great idea and what a great gift for a baby's room.  I still have to try this out myself.  I don't think you can go wrong with the variety of papers that seem to be out there and the low cost.

Sharon,

Great idea - especially for a child's room. If your up to the challenge, you can even do a collage - mix and match papers with some fabric and some found objects...  keys, coins, playing cards, etc.

Most people don't understand how easy it is to create wall art...great job! It's so simple but looks awesome!

Stacey  It is only "simple" to those of us who are creative.  I know many people who couldn't even attempt something like this.  It always surprises me when someone says they wouldn't be able to do something that I find so natural to do.  Thanks for commenting.

Tara -- what a great idea -- I love!  This is really a great way to update a home.  For someone like myself who is not good at painting/drawing, this would be perfect.
