The Christmas Tree Shop is coming to Portsmouth NH

Well, I'm pretty excited.  The Seacoast is getting a Christmas Tree Shop.  The planning department has issued a permit and they soon will begin excavation at Home Depot's old address on Durgin Lane.  Sharing the location is supposed to be Bed Bath & Beyond and one other undisclosed store.

The stores are expected to open next Fall.                                                                  christmas tree shops

The store will come in quite handy for those of us with a staging business!  Looks like Christmas comes early next year!

OH! I am so jealous! LOL! I have to hit at least three when I go home, I wish they'd expand to Virginia. Enjoy your new store!

debbie  There are three locations in the area but all are at least one hour away.  This will be less than 10 mins. from my house!

I'm in Washington State and I've never heard the The Christmas Tree Shop.  Is it a store that carries only Christmas items? You've got me curious!

Diana  The Christmas Tree Shops is a store that carries a little bit of everything...not at all Christmas in nature...I don't know where the name comes from.  It is called "shops" plural because the outside store front looks like several small stores but inside it is one big store.  They have furniture and decorating items, toys, household products, paper goods, dishware...pretty much you name it.  They have real good prices, like a close out store.  If you are familiar with Big Lots, it is like that.

Thanks for the info, Sharon.  It sounds like a Tuesday Morning store, but bigger.  We don't have HomeGoods stores here, either, but I've heard they are a great resource as well.  I love TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshalls and Target.

Sharon,   Thanks for the information. I live directly between Portsmouth and Portland and frequent the Portland Christmas Tree Shop.  It's a great place to find unbelievable deals on lamps and accessories.  I'll be looking forward to the new Portsmouth location.

This is what I got at Christmas Tree Shops two days ago:  24" wide mirrored star, pr. mercury lamps w/ great shades, pr. cool glass lamps w/ great shades, 10 mercury glass 4" dia. balls, 2 8" dia merc. glass balls, pr rustic "horse stirrup" metal/glass handing hurricanes, all for $160!!!  Can't beat it!  Julie

Hi Sharon - like you, I'm thrilled about Christmas Tree Shops coming to town.  They've been tearing down the old Home Depot and it really does now feel like it won't be long now.  They took forever giving them the go-ahead to do this.

I love Christmas Tree Shops, and this will sure beat driving to Portland, Salem and Saugus, that's for sure!

Diana:  It's like those stores but with packaged food and toys.  I'm not familiar with Ross.

Shannon:  And the Portsmouth location won't have tax!

Julia:  Isn't it the greatest feeling to drive home with a pile of stuff you got a great deal on!  I love it!

Ann   I don't know how long you have lived in the area, but I remember waiting for the Fox Run Mall to be built and thinking it would never be opened.  Boy, the years are flying by now...we will be shopping in that place in no time!

I too am excited about the Christmas Tree Shop coming to town.  I hope IKEA is next.  That store is great!

Monique  I have never been to IKEA...hard to believe.  I drove by one last weekend in MA, but didn't have time to stop.  The other store I would love to see here is Trader Joes.

My first and only Christmas Tree Shops experience was the one in Portland.  They expanded down to SI, NY but they opened the store right after I moved so I have yet to get there.  One of these trips I'll make time....  Have fun shopping!  It's a great store!  Would be nice if they'd come on down to A-town.

We drive through Portsmouth frequently and I just noticed this past weekend that the store was right next to Bed Bath and Beyond.  When will the store open?  Its now October 14th and I'm going back up north next weekend.

Will I have any luck?

Susan  I'm not sure when they will open...I've heard November.  Sorry.
