Selling Your House Shouldn't Shorten Your Life

hasty burialSelling a house is one of today's top stress triggers.  With the state of today's real estate market, home sellers are faced with financial burden and overwhelming home improvement projects that weren't typical in years past.

Stress has been linked to many diseases, including heart disease.

Stress builds when sellers, faced with years of accumulation, don't have a clue where to begin, don't know which rooms should be a priority, or what improvements would yield the best return on their investment.

A consultation with a home staging professional before you list your house can save you from a consultation with a medical professional after you list your house.

Like a coach creating a game plan, the home stager creates a plan of attack, complete with step-by-step instructions to systematically prepare the home for sale.  Professional home stagers transform the "overwhelming" into manageable.

Whether you consider a home stager to be a real estate consultant, property stylist, organizing guru, home preparation coach, or even your own personal fairy godmother...

you should consider them the authority on the preparation and packaging  of your house for sale

A home staging consult will decrease stress for both the seller and their agent.

A stager's involvement, in addition to easing pressure on the seller, enables the Realtor to put all their attention on the marketing of the house.  Having the right professionals packaging and marketing your house for sale is a guaranteed way to eliminate stress.

Eliminating stress could save your life.

I agree in this very difficult buyers market.  Can be very stressful.

I totally agree.  You want to present your home in the best light.  Outside perspective, and even more importantly, professional perspective is key.

Oh it is very stressful!  I have worried about a few of my clients' health when they were selling in this market!

Sharon...There are more than a few Real estate brokers stressing out in this market...we do all we can to get a property sold, I wish more seller were willing to consult a stager.

Staging will take the stress out of selling....makes the process of getting ready easy since there is a plan!

Man, it would be great if I could just get my sellers and a home stager together for such a consultation. My life would be sooo much easire. Thanks for the post!

Sharon:  What a thoughtful post.  More people are looking for ways to lighten their load, and this is great positioning for Staging.  Julie

Edward & Celia:  Any little bit to ease the stress is a good thing.

Faina:  Well said!

Deborah:  There are some pretty sad stories most agents could tell.

Steve:  It will come around...the Northeast may take a little longer that's all.

Kathy:  For most sellers, just having a plan of action will make all the difference.

Ron:  If you don't know any home stagers in your area, do a search here on AR to find one.  I'm sure they would be happy to meet with you and help you to introduce staging to your clients.

Julie:  It's a big part of what we do...make things easier for the seller and agent.

Love that picture at the beginning.  You're so right - the staging makes the process go so much faster and smoother.  That does alleviate a lot of stress.

Sharon, that's good advice well stated.  A professional can take the stress out of so many things and when it comes to big decisions, it's even more important.

Oh I love your graphic-this is priceless and so is your analogy!! Great one Sharon!! How true that we do make moving so less stressful in many aspects for all involved.

Life is stressful enough without the added pressure of trying to sell your home in such a tough market.  Great analogy!  I'd much rather make an appointment with a home stager than my doctor!!

Very well put thank you for the stress elimination talk.

Posted by Elite Home Sales Team Keller Wms. Realty over 1 year ago

Sharon, I chuckled when I saw your graphic--but it was SO appropriate!

All of us stagers want to make that move as stress-free as possible.  If you went to see a dentist for a toothache, and (s)he told you to get a filling, you'd get that filling!

In a way, we are like "house dentists".  The benefit to the homeowner is to get that home sold so quickly, they don't have a moment to feel stressed.

Thanks for a great post!

Sharon, I love this post and have suggested it for a feature.  It's so true in so many ways.

Posted by Gabe Sanders, Stuart Florida Real Estate (Martin County Residential Homes, Condos and Land Sales) over 1 year ago

Sharon,

Selling can be particularly stressful when combined with some of the more common reasons:

Marriage, divorce, death, job relocation etc.

The message and visual alone is cryptic without even reading the post (which I did!) but so true! We can help eliminate some of that stress for sure! I've flagged for a feature too Sharon!

Kathy:  True, staging saves money as well as reduces stress.

Roger & Debbie:  I'm glad you like the picture, it's a bit dramatic, but I love it!

Silvia:  Just having someone tell you what needs to be done and facing you in the right direction can take so much of the pressure off.

Cindy:  Great new slogan!  Thanks for the reblog and the suggest, I appreciate both!

Pamela:  It's so important to put your effort into the right improvements and not waste time and energy on things that really won't matter.

Cathy:  Now, don't let the pressure of saving lives become too much for you!

Posted by Sharon Tara New Hampshire Home Stager (Sharon Tara Transformations) over 1 year ago

Maureen:  A staging consult is more pleasant than a doctor visit.  We don't make them take their clothes off and sit and wait!

Posted by Sharon Tara New Hampshire Home Stager (Sharon Tara Transformations) over 1 year ago

Elite Home:  Thank you!

Kathleen:  "House dentists" is a great analogy!  We are much less painful though!

Gabe:  I appreciate it, thank you so much!

Scott:  True, family situation can add so much more stress!  A professional stager will also address things that could give away that information to potential buyers and cause a low offer.  If buyers sense there is a divorce or family problem situation, and they suspect the seller is desperate..a low offer gets made.

Janice:  I thank you!

Karen:  I like that word "cryptic" and I thank you for suggesting.

Sharon,

It is stressful selling a house! But it is really much more stressful to prolong the pain and have to prepare and show it for months because Buyers aren't nibbling. Staging and pricing the house right help solve that problem!

Love the graphics!

Hope you are well!

Hi, Sharon. You make a strong case for home staging..hard to resist.

I like Kathleen's comment (#20)!
