Decorating The Bathroom With Inspiration From The Garden

Decorating The Bathroom With Inspiration From The Garden

Whether you are preparing your house for sale or just need a fresh new look, there is a lot to be said for "thinking out of the box" when it comes to decorating the bathroom.

Pretty much anyone can hang a towel from a towel bar and place a soap dish by the sink.  For impact and added interest you need to be more original.

A memorable bathroom comes from being creative with the accessories you choose.  Using items that wouldn't normally be consided for a bathroom are the most fun.  One idea is to shop the garden center for urns and planters and fill them with rolled towels, sponges, and loofahs.

Here are some examples I have used:

This are some great ideas for the bathroom-it just goes to show you don't need a whole lot of money to decorate.

Love these ideas, Sharon!  I love to garden, and love garden "stuff", so this is right up my alley.  So creative, and the pictures show how pretty "practical" can be.  Nicely done!

Sharon, this is very nice! I like accessories inspired by Ancient Greece (vases, urns etc), so this might be a good way to blend them into the decor...

Love that soap tied in ribbon Sharon, I haven't used urns before but thanks for idea!

Pat:  No you don't need a lot of money to decorate...but you can make a one-of-a-kind look!

Kim:  Glad you like!  I'm sure you could come up with some great ideas.

Anna:  Exactly!

Cynthia:  I know you have the eye to create some great combinations.  Just pretend you are arranging flowers!

Sharon ~ you're right, just about anyone can hang a towel or put a bar of soap out. Creating a memorable and interesting display is much more challenging -- and your examples are perfect for giving what's usually a bland space a unique look that makes buyers remember the home.  I like the idea of tying pretty ribbons on bars of soap -- I'm going to try that tip soon.

Hi Sharon:  love how the little trellis gives some height - hard to get unless you use a floral like an orchid.  Julie

Sharon, that rectangular planter with towelsis perfect for the toilet tank and that is very often the only place to put accessories. I like your idea to use urns and I have a perfect place in my house for the urn with towels because nothing else will fit between bathtub and the toilet.

Sally:  Thank you!  There are lots of interesting things to choose from.

Maureen:  Take some pictures of your soap with ribbon and share them with us!

Barbara:  The rolled towel is so spa like and can add color and interest to a shelf or tub surround.  I love them too.

Julie:  There are plenty of them to choose from too!

Janice:  Thank you!

Anna:  I'm glad you liked the idea and can use it in your own home.  The toilet tank is right where that planter is sitting, you were right!

I think that first picture is my favorite.  Really nicely done Sharon.  I am saving these ideas for future decorating.
