It's prime blueberry picking season on the New Hampshire Seacoast and that means it's time to bake some homemade blueberry muffins!
I was given this recipe from a friend over 20 years ago and I've yet to find one I like better. I prefer to use fresh, local berries...but frozen work just fine too.
BLUEBERRY MUFFINS
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup blueberries
Preheat oven to 350˚
Mix dry ingredients. Add eggs, milk, and butter and mix with hand mixer. Fold in blueberries.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Enjoy!

I love blueberry season in New England!! I will have to try your recipe - Do you have one for blueberry pie as well?
Laurie
Oh sure, I'm in the middle of moving and you're posting Blueberry Muffin recipes..........damn! Sounds delicious..............wish I had time to whip up a batch.
They look very good. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Have a wonderful weekend.
Sharon, we have had an absolute explosion of wild black raspberries at my house this year I'm inclined to substitute any issues with a different berry and these measurements?
Sharon, your blog couldn't have come at a better time for me! A friend gave me a boatload of blueberries last week, which are now in the freezer. With the cooler weather here in Buffalo today, I can bake to my heart's content! Thanks!
(The picture looks so YUMMY!)
I LOVE blueberry muffins but no time to bake so ours are purchased at the bakery:)
Laurie: Sorry I don't, but maybe some other member will see this and send you one.
Anyone got a pie recipe for Laurie?
Roger: If I lived closer, I would bring you some...nice and warm, fresh from the oven. On second thought, that wouldn't be too nice of me to sabotage your diet. I guess it's best I am not nearby!
Roy: They are very good. They aren't really sweet like cake, that is what I like about them.
Steve: I don't believe there would be any difference, switching the berry. Make a batch and let us know!
Kathleen: That's great! I'm glad I'm able to help you find a use for that boat load of berries!
LaNita: Aw come on...just this once...try making some homemade. You will be very proud of yourself!
Sharon, I will try today before Roger opens up a new group;-)
Anna: Too funny! You have exactly 9 days I think before the new group starts! Enjoy!
Sharon - I just had a blueberry scone at a bakery/cafe this morning. I played tennis, so figured I could afford to eat one! This recipe looks yummy. Ah, fresh blueberry muffins, warm from the oven, with butter melting on them.... ahhhhh.
Sally: Warm with butter is the best way to have them!
Ah ha...we can do recipes! That will help when I get stuck!
Why is it that everyone I read is in the contest....so not only do I have to write one each day....I'm doing double duty on the comments!LOL
Joan: There are "Recipe" groups you can post to. It does seem that a lot of people are on board and you are right, responding to all the comments is going to add to the work load...how fun is this!!! The key is to keep smiling!
Sharon -- great photo and recipe but you're making me hungry!
Joan -- just jumping in to clarify -- from the AR Community Guidelines on the Main Page -- only original content may be used for blogging "... Points for blogging will only be awarded for your own majority original content. Examples of what doesn't qualify for points: jokes, recipes, inspirational quotes, poems..."
So if you want to blog about a recipe that you found in a cookbook, magazine, or online ... you can, but you must mark the box that it is not your original content before you click on "submit" and a red X will show once it's posted. This rule is to keep people from getting lots of points for things that aren't original content.
I've got until the 7th of September before I start worrying about what I'm eating..........wish you were closer...........for several reasons.
Maureen: Thanks for adding that info about recipes. I should have been more specific. It's not as easy as just copying a favorite recipe from a cookbook...it must be your own for you to share it.
Roger: Enjoy what little time you have left, my friend...bake some muffins!
Now you're talking ! These look delicious ! ...printing to bake with my 5 year old ;o)
Sheldon: That is so sweet...I hope you have a wonderful time baking with your son! Great "quality time" way to create memories for him.
Hi Sharon - Blueberry muffins are my absolute favorite. And, nothing smells any better than blueberry muffins baking in the oven.
Pamela: I hope you enjoy these muffins, they are one of my favorite recipes. The recipe can be used for a bundt cake also, if you prefer. Same recipe.
Sharon- They sound wonderful, would love to have one with my cup of coffee.. I will print this out for my son to try. He is not a cook, but enjoys making muffins.
Hi Sharon - The bundt cake would be great for a special dessert with family. Great idea!
Diane: I hope your son likes the muffins!
Pamela: Especially nice with a lemon or orange glaze!
Mmmmm! Great idea, Sharon.
Hi, Sharon. I lived in Maine for 15 years and always used wild blueberries that I picked myself in my own field.
This recipe looks very easy; I'm printing it out and will make a batch so we can stop at my house on a fall trail ride and sit on the deck for a little while for a coffee break.
I have a hitchin' rail that holds 6 and trailer ties on trees for overflow, for just this purpose. Thanks!
Leslie: Local, fresh picked is always best! I bet you miss those blueberries! Sounds like you have a pretty sweet set up in your new home too!
Anyone baking homemade blueberry muffins should feel free to send some to me. LOL
Russel: It would be funny if you suddenly got a ton of muffins in the mail!
