Are You Walking The Dog or Simply Holding The Leash?

Are you walking the dog or simply holding the leash?

walking the dog

My daughter, Jaime, recently took this picture of Zack, and it got me thinking...

Zack may believe he is walking the dog, but

the person really responsible for the walk is the one pushing the stroller.

Whether it's selling your house,

raising your kids,

or running a successful business...

simply believing you are running the show is not enough.

If you aren't the one pushing the stroller...you aren't the one deciding where you are going!

Great metaphor.  Oh, and I just made the connection this weekend that you were the one who knows TJ Sprague from Floor Coverings International in New Hampshire.  Small world.

Hi Sharon,

That really is a great metaphor. Good way to start the week.

Sharon- worthy of a "Suggest" I think.  You gave us something to think about as we start the week.

Sharon, good one! So how do you tell if you are walking the dog/business? Any advice?

Frank:  Glad you think so!  Thanks.

Debbie:  The world gets smaller, the longer you are in the Rain too!  Yes, TJ and I were in the same BNI group last year.  He is great!

Steve:  Thank you!  Have a great week!

Kathy:  Thanks for the Suggest!  I know you will make the best of your week!

I agree with Kathy on that suggestion button! Believing is an action word.

Janice:  If you are actually in control of where you are going then you are physically pursuing your goals, making them happen...not sitting around waiting for success to find you.

Anna:  Thank you!

Lee & Carol:  Thank you!  Believing is important, but doing is mandatory.

Sharon, I hate to sound like a broken record, but that is a great metaphor, and a strong reminder to take charge of your direction!  Thank you!

Good post Sharon -- I like that little guy, he looks like he might be feisty!

Almost looks like this pup might be able to take Zack for a quick spin! Nice pic and analogy.

Bruce:  When Jaime sent me the picture, I knew I had to use it.  Thanks for commenting!

Barbara:  The picture was the inspiration.  I'm glad you liked it!

Tony:  You are welcome, and you can sound like a broken record here any time!

Maureen:  If you mean the dog...his name is Monkey and you are right...he is feisty!

John:  Monkey is strong and fast, and I'm sure he would love to take Zack for the ride of his life!
