The 10th Annual Master Sand Sculpting Competition at Hampton Beach has begun and is already drawing crowds to the area. The fun began June 18th when ten tons of sand per sculptor was delivered. June 19 - June 23 a massive sponsor site is created, where each sponsor's name appears on a piece of sand art.

June 24, 25, & 26 is the master solo competition.
Each of the fourteen world class master sculptors will use sand, water, and their own creativity to build amazing works of art within their 18' x 18' plot.
No molds of any kind may be used.
A solution of glue and water is sprayed on the completed entries to protect them from wind and rain, and help them remain in tact for the length of the competition.
The awards ceremony is Saturday, June 26 at 8 pm, on the Sea Shell Stage. Fireworks will follow at 9:30.
The "exhibit on the beach" will remain until June 30. It is lighted for night viewing. You can view the live beach camera anytime to follow their progress.

Wow, does that look like fun Sharon............wish I could be there.
Sharon- I am so ready for the beach. Hope to get there this weekend.
They used to have these in Santa Cruz Ca and it was a blast, amazing what these people can do
Roger: I took the picture yesterday. I will be revisiting next week when more of the sculpting is complete. I love an excuse to walk the boardwalk and have some beach pizza.
Kathy: I am lucky to live near the beach. I really love the coast!
Gary: They are usually really amazing works of art. I am always surprised at the detail!
Gerry: They are very talented! They are true artists.
Great info. I thought it was over. Think I know what I'm doing Saturday evening.
Cool, can't wait for more pictures................have a piece of pizza for me!
Looking forward to the other photos you take, Sharon. Perhaps one of the contestants will want you to stage their entry...
Just popping in to say hello Sharon and I see you have an adventure ahead of you...getting more of these amazing sculptures! These people are talented artists.
LOL@Irene :)
Ross: I'm so glad you didn't miss it. Enjoy!
Roger: I would be happy to have a piece of pizza for you! Now I have a valid excuse to have an extra piece!
Irene: Oh, I'm sure that will happen, LOL!
Cynthia: Hubby and I will Harley over there this weekend and see what we can get for pictures.
Hi, Sharon. I'm always awed by people's creativity. It's amazing that the sculptures can be preserved...it would be horrible to have your masterpiece demolished by a downpour! HAVE FUN!
Leslie: I'm pretty awed myself. I'm looking forward to seeing the entries this year.
These are sooo amazing. I love looking at these.
Now that would be something amazing to see! I've never seen anything like it, looks like the personification of summertime - sand sculptures on the beach with the warm beach breeze floating through the air....
Debra: And these are just the ones being made for the Sponsors Section...each one has a sponsor's name on it. The actual contest entries hadn't been started yet. I hope to get there tomorrow or Tuesday to get photos of the final entries.
Janna: And the wonderful smell of boardwalk treats...fries, clams, pizza! It's a fun place for a walk, some junk food, and great views.
Vroom, Vroom sounds like fun Sharon, a cycle ride to the beach, sigh...
Sharon, while I've never experienced sand sculpting first hand (trust me, my sand castles as a kid were NOT noteworthy), I've not been to a competition. Waiting for the web cam to load now. How neat is that for those of us who cannot attend?
Cynthia: Didn't make it this weekend, but hope to get there tomorrow or Tuesday. And, yes...would love to ride there.
Mary: I'll try to get some good photos to share. I checked out the web cam and it is pretty cool. Hope you enjoy it.
That looks like a fun weekend! Glue and water huh? Trade secrets ;)
Janice: You can learn so much here on ActiveRain!
It was an unbelievable day Sunday for judging. I had a chance to visit with the family, and it was a great time!
Bill: I loved walking the boardwalk too!
