Did you know that your personal information could be in the hands of an identity thief just because your doctor or lawyer makes copies of it? This is a very interesting report from CBS news.
Until I received this video from a friend, I had no idea that the copy machines on which we rely are a huge potential security risk. This only makes sense, now that I have watched it, but is is something that never occurred to me before. And it is something that I never heard a word about from anyone else.
Copies, copies and more copies. Seems I am making copies constantly. But even more, I am scanning documents so as to email them to lenders, other agents, and clients for signatures. I am certainly going to rethink where and how I make and scan copies of certain documents.

Hi, Sharon. This information seems to be making the rounds; someone sent me an email about this several days ago.
I have copied sensitive information for myself and others...birth certificates, military discharge papers etc. without ever thinking that the info might be retained.
Russel seems to have summed it up pretty succinctly (as usual)!
Leslie: I used to work for a lawyer and I used to work at a car dealership. Both locations make copies of very personal info. You don't realize that when you, as a consumer, allow these places to copy this info that it could someday end up in a stranger's hands.
