It's that time of year again. Christmas cards on the mantel, taped around doorways, piled up in baskets.
Looking for a new way to display the cards you receive this year?
Here is an idea I discovered last year...it looks great and it's easy to add new cards as they are received.
The cards are attached to ribbon which can hang pretty much anywhere you wish.
It is really easy and fast, and more importantly, the cards can be seen and appreciated all season.
It's nice having access to the inside of the cards too!
My ribbon is attached to the top of a window, using a tack, but you could hang the ribbon down the side of your fireplace or down any wall. You could hang the ribbon on either side of a doorway.
To attach cards to the ribbon:
Cut a slit at the top and bottom of the inside of each card and pull the ribbon through.
It's that easy!

Uh, oh, Sharon....I hate to be the proverbial wet blanket but so many people are sending me "E-cards" this years, participating in the "paperless society." I find it commendable on one level but so disappointing on another (and disappointing for the card companies, too, I'm sure!)
Leslie: I agree that many people don't follow the paper, snail mail tradition any longer, but I still receive enough cards to display. I remember when there used to be so much more cards, it certainly isn't like it used to be.
I love your idea. Not many Christmas cards get sent anymore; however your idea can be used for other cards, like birthday cards.
Sharon: It's sad that cards aren't as common as they used to be. I love Christmas cards and receiving holiday messages by email just isn't the same. Getting something in the mail is much more special!
I agree but it is becoming a lost and forgotten social nicety.
I remember rushing home from school to read letters from my boyfriend in Montreal, my girlfriend whose Dad was posted in France, etc. I kept them and wrapped them in different coloured ribbons in a tall thin box in my room.
It's the same as keeping diaries. I still have the diaries I kept when I was a teenager with party invites and prom corsages. Now people share their feelings on-line. Weird!

Sharon: I almost didn't bother this year, and today I went out and bought cards to send out. I just hate to end the tradition. Your saved letters are priceless for the memories and history they contain. Future generations won't have them, but they will have access to all the "stuff" their friends write online! lol!
