My daughter, Jaime, sent me this picture this morning. She is six months pregnant, due to have her first baby the end of October. She was pretty happy to find this sign recently while shopping.

I have not seen this form of reserved parking anywhere, maybe it's something new. I think it's a great idea and more places should follow their example.
So on behalf of Jaime and all the other pregos out there:
Thank you to Home Depot in Rochester, NH!!

I put on some sympathy weight when my wife was pregnant where is the expectant fathers parking spot?, Congrats on your second...soon to be grandchild (is that hard to hear?).
Sharon you should come to Casper, Wyoming. Those signs are everywhere here, Home Depot, the mall, Target, Menards, a few of the restraunts and grocery stores. It is a great idea!!
Sharon,
We have them too..at grocery stores etc. It is a great idea and glad to hear your daughter was able to take advantage of the courtesy.
Steve: Come on now...sympathy weight? Don't you even try to compare yourself to a pregnant woman! You only get the special parking if the lovely wife is with you! Thanks for the congrats...yes he will be the second grandbaby, and no, not hard to hear at all. I'm loving it!!
Dan: Glad to hear they are so popular. It seems only fair to me!
Dorie: I think it is a fairly new idea around here. She was pretty happy to find that sign!
We have those signs all over the place. Plus they also have reserved parking for mothers with small children!!! No wonder our kids are overweight!
Gail: I'm glad to hear they are so popular. I don't think the "mothers with small children" is necessary. They can put the kid in a stroller or store cart and push them to the entrance if they have too many to handle by hand. I think they can manage fine withouth special parking.
Sharon we also have them for quite a few years now. I think they are terrific and definitely a necessity!
I think the only place I have seen this is at hospitals. As a father of 5 I have always thought this would be a good idea for the expectant mothers.
I most often see them in front of the 'mother specialty' stores only - Motherhood Maternity, BabysRUs, etc. But I do love them!
There's an entire section quartered off for Family Parking at Ikea...
Aw, that's cute. Do you think guys with beer bellys would qualify?
I have a local supermarket that has close parking for expectant mothers OR parents wtih children in car seats. (So that would have helped Steve too) I think it's great. Wish they had started it a bit sooner, but still think it's great.
Sharon, when I lived in VA, Wegmans had a special spot for "Expectant mothers and mothers with young children".
Debra: Seems you are ahead of us on this idea. I hope other stores pick up on the idea.
Gene: You certainly have first hand experience on the subject. I'm sure it would have made your wife's life a little easier!
Ashley: My daughter said the only other place she has seen this is at Baby's R Us.
Richard: No! Guys with beer belly's need the excercise and should be walking as far as possible! Nice try, though!
Tammy: The places that are doing it are making a little extra effort to show they care about their customers. Those poor pregos in their 8th and 9th month need all the help they can get.
Kathy: Hopefully more places will do this. Every little bit helps.
They are everywhere here in Maryland. I was really appreciative of them when I was pregnant. Good luck to your daughter for a wonderful rest of her pregnancy.
Stacey-Ann: Thanks for the well wishes for my daughter, that is so sweet of you!
Hi Sharon
Not a bad idea for business to have special parking spaces for expecting mothers.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
I have to say they are starting to catch on here- but I have seen them in a few of the states that we have lived in. I know when I was pregnant they had them at the hospital where I also went for my OB appointments. That was wonderful in the hot Georgia sun. Hope your daughter is doing well.
Lou: I'm glad you agree! I hope more public places catch on to the idea!
Sheila: Some places are just obvious choices. I like to see them at the unexpected, like in this case, Home Depot. My daughter is doing really well, thanks for asking!
Glenn's Markets (Grocery Store Chain) in Gladwin MI has a sign like that to reserve a space for expectant mothers - it's been there for YEARS, but not when I needed it! I think it's a really nice!!!!
Marilyn: Wow, Glenn's Markets was ahead of the times! Good for them! Too bad for you, though!
