As many of you know, I'm expecting my first grandchild, Jack, due in two weeks. Even though I've had three children of my own, it's been a long time since I've cared for a baby. I'm hoping those motherly instincts haven't totally dried up and at least some of it will come back to me.
My parents were here visiting for Father's Day weekend. My mother is very excited about becoming a Great Grandmother. We went to some yard sales on Saturday and we had lots of fun finding things for our new grandbaby. We got a great deal on two Baby Bjorn carriers.
The real fun came after we got home and had a "grandmother's in training" practice session using two baby dolls.
The good news: We now totally understand how to use these contraptions. We are grandma, hear us roar!
The bad news: Little Jack just might not be as cooperative as our test models were.

Sharon My one and only is just 16...I'm ready for Grand-kittens but no babies yet thank you!!, But you look like you are eager and ready to be a G-mom.
Sharon, very cute picture! Something tells me your maternal instincts will kick right in!
Now this has made me smile today!! I have a 2 year old granddaughter and one on the way in about 1 1/2 weeks. I remeber when Sophie was born....the love that came over me is exactly what I remembered!! I'm excited to meet my new Granddaughter too!! WOW is all I can say...it is the most incredible thing I have experienced yet!!
HAVE FUN and ENJOY!!

Ginger: Wow, you have some real "grandma" experience. And you have it at all stages! Thanks!
Steve: Grand kittens, that's great! It doesn't seem like that long ago that my son was 16...don't blink, he could be all grown up with a pregnant wife before you know it!
Patricia: Thank you for the support and the confidence in my abilities!
Lani: I can't wait! After Jack is born in July, I have another grandson due in October!
Sharon
You and Dot look FABULOUS!!! Jamie is having a baby too? Congrats Grammie!!!!!
True, I don't think a baby neck will stay straight up like in the second photo.
Kylah: Thanks! Yes, Jaime is due in October...also a boy.
Cindy: You can only use the carrier with the flap down and the baby facing front when they are old enough to hold their head up. We were too lazy to turn the dolls around.
Sharon,
And we're all excited for you too! Hats off for your pre-baby training.
Irene: Thank you!
The key to success is all about being prepared. You practice that principle daily, don't you? Looks like you have a pretty good head start for when the bundle of joy arrives. It sounds like it was a very fun weekend, despite the weather..... ;-)
Judy: I try to be prepared, but even I'm not perfect! The weather on Saturday for the yard sales was perfect. It hasn't been good since, though!
How cute is that! My son brought my two little granddaughters for a visit, and drug all the baby paraphanalia on the plane. I decided that I needed to start acquiring the right stuff, what good inspiration you are!
Janna: Yard sales are wonderful for finding baby stuff. I've been lucky to find things in really nice condition and at great prices.
Sharon - that is a great picture of you and your Mom. How exciting to be expecting your first grandchild.
Sharon: We are so excited and just waiting for the call to come! Any day now!
First of all neither you or your mom look like you could be grandmothers or great grandmothers. What a great picture. I am so excited for you - I have been thinking about you all day actually! I know it won't be long now. Can't wait to hear all about the good news!
Sheila: How very kind of you! We are all holding our breath, every time the phone rings I hope it's the call. I'll keep you posted!
We were there when our "little" bundle of g-joy arrived, all 9+ lbs of him! (He will be 6 in about 2 weeks) I promise, it all comes back instantly! Congrats to you and your mom, and the the new mom!
Cheryl: Thank you! I needed that reassurance!
